1st Place:Orlando Gilberto Castro e Tiago Ascensão-Porto,Portugal
Eira Lounge competition focused on Construction of an ephemeral installation – Eira Lounge – that meets the needs and objectives of the program.Eira is a piece of land from the Latin area -is a plain surface of hard floor with variable dimensions, where cereals were threshed and sieved after being collected, with the purpose of breaking apart the waste from the cereal grain. The “Eira Lounge” project arised from the need to create, in the same place as the Eira stage, a wide relaxing space, suitable to host the audience and a meeting point before, during, and after the concerts. The competition has selected 3 winners and 12 honorable mentions including Portugal,France,Spain,Germany,Switzerland and many more that responds all these situations with a very creative ideas.
2nd Place: Lorenzo Majer and Anna Merci-Paris,France
Given the place´s wideness, without houses or enough trees to produce significant shadowy areas, it´s avoided during daytime (due to the blazing sun and heat), and uncomfortable at nighttime (due to the lack of illumination or resting and meeting spots). Thus, the space to be created should have promoted interaction and the socialization among its users and reinterpret today´s threshing floor (Eira).
3rd Place: João Torres Navarro, Concha García Rodriguez, Ana Martínez Pardo, Sofia Calvo Ovejas, Sofia Álvarez García-Madrid,Spain
Participants were waitied to be inspired a reinterpret the public space, trying to give a new life to spaces that once had great importance amongst these small communities and now are forgotten. The project must have been considered the place that hosts the festival and not the traditional music festival precinct. It should have respected the ecological principles and sustainability.
Honorable Mentions
Honorable mention: Paulo Lobato, Adriana Gomes, Luis Lobato, Catarina Alexandra, Oliveira Ferreira-Braga,Portugal
Since this project will be built in a place with one stage, the “Eira Lounge” shouldn´t be an obstacle to circulation near that stage it should have been a fluid, permeable space with good synergy with its surroundings (stage, bars, toilets, access, etc.). it can even be a privileged area to watch the concerts.
Honorable mention: Jan Hormann, Pegah Ghalambor-Hamburg,Germany
The facility should be designed to allow the easy assembly and disassembly, by the festival´s organization, and also its reuse in future editions.
Honorable mention: Jose Ignacio Llorens Gonzalez, Iñigo Paniego de la Cuesta, Gonçalo Macedo, Nacho Company Selma-Bordeaux,France
The limits of the area were the total area of deployment -approximately 50 m2 and installation height - Minimum: 3m; maximum: 6m. The use of environmentally friendly, sustainable material and/or recycling objects, were highly suggested. It should have beeen projected an illumination system, so the space can be used during night time. This illumination mustn’t interfere with the stage´s light. In order to fight the high temperatures during daytime and to turn “Eira Lounge” into a fresh, fun zone, it could have been implemented a cooling system (for example, water spray).
Honorable mention: Luís Ribeiro, Micael Oliveira -Fátima,Portugal
This system should have been designed only for daytime use and should be taken into account the lack of a precious and limited resource, especially in summer - water - which is shared by all (residents and visitors), during the Festival. Thus, if the system in question uses water, we recommend strongly its moderate use or the use of technologies that avoid the wastage or allow its reuse. The total cost was 10.000€ (including material and human resources). The project must comply with the established costs for work.
