Ulisses Morato de Andrade was born in Belo Horizonte, 1968. He graduated in Architecture and Urbanism in 1992 at the Methodist University Center of Minas Gerais (Centro Universitário Metodista de Minas Gerais). He has concluded a post-graduation course in Technology and Productivity in Civil Construction at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais – UFMG), 2008. Since 1992, he manages Morato Arquitetura, an office that executes architecture projects, architecture of interiors and urbanism.
He has projects published in books, newspapers and specialized magazines of national and international circulation. Received the Young Architects Award in 1996, from São Paulo Department of Instituto dos Arquitetos do Brasil (Institute of Architects of Brazil), IAB-SP, in the category of Institutional Building. In 2005, he presented projects in the 2nd International Congress of Historical Cities, in Cuba. Took part in the 3rd and 8th International Biennial of Architecture of São Paulo, in 1996 and 2009. He was finalist of the 5th and 6th Grand Prize of Corporate Architecture of São Paulo, in 2008 and 2009. Received awards from Minas Gerais Department of Instituto dos Arquitetos do Brasil, IAB-MG: category Single-family Residence and Institutional Building in 2008, category Valorization of Historical Patrimony in 2009. Also in 2009, he received the World Architecture Community Award / 4th Cycle with a single-family residence. Nowadays he is the Director of Minas Gerais Department of Instituto dos Arquitetos do Brasil, IAB-MG.
