TESU (Temporary Emergency Shelter Unit)
TESU is a small but versatile structure composed of portable walls, a floor and a roof. The walls have fold down furniture modules which allow the same space to operate as a place to work and eat during the day and a place to fold down a storable bed for sleep at night. The outer skin of the structure is cellular polycarbonate which can be filled with native material such as soil, leaves, snow or water to provide insulation to the unit. The roof is a waterproof membrane with a built in photovoltaic module to provide a small amount of energy.
The whole system comes apart, folds flat and fits inside the roof membrane for deployment anywhere. Instructions for installation are visual images so that language is no issue. The Unit is light weight and small folding to less than 5 x 10 x 0.5. The unit is designed to be erected by two people.
When a permanent structure is provided to replace the TESU, polycarbonate materials can be recycled. and sunflower board walls can be composted. All of the plastic connection pieces can be reused or recycled
