Garfam Villa Complex

Design Intention – Villa Complex in Garfam, Rasht

The design intention for this villa complex in Garfam, Rasht is rooted in a deep understanding of the region’s humid climate, lush vegetation, and the unique lifestyle of northern Iran. The project aims to establish a seamless relationship between architecture and nature, where built forms coexist harmoniously with the green landscape.

The primary concept is based on elevation and permeability. In response to high humidity and زمین moisture, the villas are slightly elevated above the ground to enhance airflow and protect the ساختمان fabric. The site is organized through a dispersed layout of volumes, allowing natural عناصر such as wind, light, and vegetation to flow freely throughout the complex.

Inspired by the vernacular architecture of Gilan, the design integrates sloped roofs, wide eaves, and semi-open verandas. These عناصر not only respond to heavy rainfall but also create transitional spaces that blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor living.

Climatic responsiveness is a key driver of the design. Cross ventilation is maximized through openings on opposite facades, while building orientation is carefully considered to reduce excessive solar gain. Deep roof overhangs and shading elements contribute to creating comfortable microclimates, particularly in outdoor living areas.

Material selection emphasizes natural and breathable systems. Wood, local brick, and moisture-resistant finishes are used to ensure durability and compatibility with the humid environment. The overall architectural language remains warm, lightweight, and contextually grounded.

Spatially, the project balances privacy and community. Each villa benefits from private green areas and controlled views, while shared pathways and landscape corridors encourage subtle social interaction. The organic arrangement of units follows the natural patterns of the site, avoiding rigid geometry.

Ultimately, the project seeks to create a calm, climate-responsive, and nature-integrated villa complex that reflects the identity of Garfam while offering a contemporary interpretation of living in northern Iran.
