BYD Al-Farabi is an automotive showroom in Almaty designed by Basire Design for Astana Motors. The project was developed around the idea of motion as an architectural principle rather than a decorative theme. Geometry, transparency, material transitions and lighting are used to create a visual language that reflects the dynamic character of the automotive environment.

The exterior composition is defined by sharp angles, inclined planes and elongated directional lines. These elements give the building a sense of movement even when viewed as a static object. Graphite-toned façade surfaces establish a strong visual frame, while extensive glazing opens the showroom toward the city and keeps the vehicles visible from outside. Transparency is therefore both an architectural and functional element: it reduces the boundary between the display space and its urban surroundings while keeping the product at the centre of perception.

The interior develops the same geometric logic. Angular ceiling planes, wall surfaces and directional lines create a continuous rhythm across the showroom and guide visitors through the display areas. Rather than separating architecture and interior space into different visual systems, the project uses one shared vocabulary throughout the building.

Material contrast plays an important role in balancing the dynamic geometry. Glass and smooth surfaces reinforce the technological character of the showroom, while wood and stone introduce warmer textures and a more tactile quality to the interior.

The reception area acts as a visual anchor. A faceted reception desk echoes the angular geometry of the building, while a suspended lighting installation above it creates the impression of a vortex. Linear lighting continues throughout the showroom, emphasizing spatial direction and reinforcing the concept of movement.

The project approaches the automotive showroom as more than a neutral container for displaying vehicles. Architecture, lighting, materials and circulation are coordinated to create a coherent environment in which the identity of the brand is expressed through spatial experience. From the exterior silhouette to individual interior elements, motion becomes the organizing idea of the project.
