GULFESHAN APARTMENT BUILDING
The poetics of Brick…

Gulfeshan apartment building is a unique project, because it thrives in creating a connection between the urbanized man and nature. This is an urban apartment complex situated by Gulshan Lake with a sensitive plan for the natural elements like the sunlight, wind and greenery while preserving 30 exiting trees on the site. It is an example, of how with proper planning and sensitive thinking, urban housing solutions can be reached, where the dwellers are not deprived of nature, where the children can enjoy the pleasures of plucking a mango from the tree, or listening to the chirping of the birds.

The idea was to make the building weave into the natural habitat, respecting the site with its natural surroundings. The design concept is derived from the traditional “rural scape” of Bengal. The structure looks more grounded and heavier on the surface, gradually rising up and becoming lighter and more transparent towards the sky. Every single apartment has been designed as a free flowing open plan, with a provision for natural ventilation and adequate sunlight and a view of the surrounding trees, middle courtyard and water.
