BEACH-BATHING FACILITY, Italy, Porto Garibaldi

During the summer, the Adriatic coast becomes a never-ending village as the beach transforms from its open, wintery state.

The original facility was wooden, and the owner wanted a different material; in addition, the municipality demanded prefabricated structures. To me there was only one solution... to realize the project in concrete.

The challenge was working with such a heavy material in a beach setting, especially as I wanted to use transparency and color to break the composition as well as respect the proportions. The blue-violet colors I used come from nature: the sky and the sea.
