N2 Cabin is situated in a decent neighbourhood in Colombo suburbs; which is a flat land bounded by Bellanwila birds sanctuary overlooking Rathmalana Air-port. The Architects purchased this 6 perched land (1633.56 Sqft.) in 2003 after impressed on its potentials neighbourhood, sanctuary and easy accessibility to design their habitat with minimum requirements; designing, entertaining and living.The design was started in 2008. and construction has been completed in 2009.
The building, a central cube wrapped by its periphery walls and horizontal aluminum box bar grills envelope the open to sky spaces which always ventilate the spaces inside allowing efficient air circulation in different levels in and around the building makes the cabin an environmentally comfortable space.
The cabin is designed to feel the basic elements in life on earth apo ( fluidity) thejo( warmth) vayo ( airy ) patavi ( solidity) allowing to sense the effects of the sun, moon, sky, wind and the water inside the flowing spaces amidst the white walls, soffits and the floor. It gives functional and psychological flexibility to use the cabin as a multifunctional space as design studio, living space and entertaining deck at different times for experience the spaciousness - the silent beauty !

The plastered reinforced concrete column beam structure and slabs with 9inch brick walls are used for the construction to keep neatly demarcated geometric highly disciplined effects with well water-proof engineering system. Use of aluminum and glass for its openings to get neat, light weight, thin, qualities in contrast to solid grid structure except the Burma teak main door with thick frames. The main bath rooms lined with aluminum cladding as an experiment and to create elegant, minimal interiors
The green pool and the glimpse of red for generate calmness and energy. The tailor made modern furniture to enhance the spaciousness and simplicity.
