The Aeli old-age home is a social initiative by the client Mr.Ravi Thomas. What was once a dysfunctional RCC structure which was a proposal for a youth hostel was ironically transformed into an old-age home where the inhabitants rejuvenated themselves and were given an opportunity to redeem their youth.
The proposal aims at providing a luxurious facility for its inhabitants along with various activities to keep them occupied and engaged. These facilities include bakery, organic gardening and a unique live salad garden which incorporates aquaponics which is a food production system that combines conventional aquaculture with hydroponics( cultivating plants in water) thus creating a symbiotic environment.
The occupants of the facility are give opportunities to get back in touch with themselves as well as nature.
