It will detonate a regional transformation needed to make of Puerto Plata the International Tourist Destination it was thought out to be.

MUCH MORE THAN A TRANSPORTATION TERMINAL FOR CRUISE PASSENGERS
Most important BERGANTIN is not the usual boring and unattractive Bus Station like port.
BERGANTIN is much more than the typical Port. It is a Lively 24/7-365 day per year real but Magical Citadel. In this Magical Citadel cruise, passengers will mingle with international and national tourist pouring in from nearby hotels and tourist developments.

ARCHITECTURE: A CONTEXTUAL LANGUAGE
The Architecture of BERGANTIN will look to reinforce the Caribbean, African, Spaniard and European roots of Hispaniola. To design lively scenarios for our present day-by-day life, in an environment that articulates with Puerto Plata traditions, context, and identity. The architecture of the Citadel is inspired the traditional Spaniard waterfront Paseos, including the use of archetypical elements of the traditional architecture: corridors, patios, arcades, fountains, trellis, as well of images of defense and Fort architecture, like stone walls, stoned floorings, ramps, large parade and ceremonial plazas. Santo Domingo has one of the richest and precious settings of colonial and fort architecture in the Caribbean and it will play a definite role in the final designs of each of the buildings of the BERGANTIN Citadel. At this latitude Architecture and Landscaping becomes an indivisible matter, and a select variety of Palm trees, Oleanders and Bougainville will create the joyful and Tropical setting desired. Archetypical materials such as stone slabs of various size, textures and colors, bricks, woods, sugarcane, tiled roofs, coral stone, fine plaster and stucco and local construction systems will be adopted intertwined with innovative technological inclusions to bring them to the XX! Century. The Architecture of BERGANTIN port will be such to relate to the geographical location, cultural identity and historical roots of Puerto Plata and the Dominican Republic. It is Architecture that will contain the rituals of life.
