Museum of naval war. La Maddalena Sardinia.
Water, light, materials, become the protagonists of this "simple" architecture. This museum has been projected after a study on the territory of the archipelago of the Maddalena, Sardinia. The Archipelago of the Maddalena has had a strategic role in the defense of the Mediterranean for a long time, for this its territory is covered from different strongholds and batteries set in the strategic points. The Museum could be seen how the last of these fortifications, that marks and fixed in the history the liberation of the archipelago from the military servitudes, history that must preserve and to tell to its inside. The Museum will have in fact the role to defend the history of the Maddalena, of the Mediterranean and of the naval wars as the historical fortifications defended and garrisoned the seas. The museum will tell of the people that have ploughed that seas and of those that prepare him to plough them. The museum is a court building that with its white wrap it will contain a history of wars, ships, conquests and discoveries. History that doesn`t see the time to be reported, history that appropriates of the new wrap and from it to ri appear on the surface as a second skin. So the he rust of the history is contrasted at the white of the new one and the change in an elegant game of chromatic contrasts, in which partecipates the dynamism and the brightness of the sea, that become master of the inside court, setting to the center of the scene and welcoming the great models. The access to the museum happens from north, a wall always in shade it detaches from earth and making to pass light and air and attracting the visitor toward the ramp that accompanies up to the hall. The select images to illustrate the project should be clear and surely more valid than any text.
