Background:
1.The national strategy of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals in China;
2.The life demands of "Shanghai drifters'' (young people who come to Shanghai for work);
3.The urban background of the Shanghai's epidemic;
4.The construction demand of affordable rental housing in Shanghai.
Idea:
The overall concept is based on the national strategy of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, the life demands of "Shanghai drifters’’ and the urban background of the Shanghai's epidemic. Through the strategy of opening the ground floor, centripetal layout, and stereo neighborhood, the architectural design uses facilities such as energy farms and green building materials to create an urban pastoral community that is self-sufficient, neighborhood-rich, and full of well-being. It has prompted the architectural design to respond to the city's expectations, and create a model of affordable rental housing with warmth, temperament and pleasant life in Shanghai.
Form:
According to the "Guidelines for the Planning and Construction of Rental Housing in Shanghai"(2020.10)--"Centripetal layout of rental housing is encouraged, and the space for neighborhood interaction and activities should be set up rationally by using the site. The rental housing should be mainly oriented in the north-south direction, and some east-west-oriented houses are allowed to be arranged." The design form is a combination of local design norms and emotional demands of Shanghai citizens during the epidemic.
Function:
The design creates an urban pastoral community for the citizens of Shanghai. Under the normalized situation of the epidemic, citizens can easily obtain food and avoid the occurrence of food grabbing incidents in Shanghai. At the same time, this building construction process is simple and easy to implement, and it is easy to be replicated into the construction of affordable rental housing in Shanghai. The low rent, excellent quality of life, and adaptation to the normalization of the epidemic are the greatest help to "Shanghai Drifters'' (Young people who come to Shanghai for work).
Impact:
At present, Shanghai is in full swing with the construction of affordable rental housing. The design meets the requirements of the era for the construction of affordable rental housing in Shanghai, the normalization of the epidemic and China's carbon neutralization policy. It can produce the social benefits of community self-sufficiency, a strong sense of neighborhood, a green and low-carbon construction and a sense of well-being.These are important reasons for project's sustainability to be in line with the background of the era, the requirements of the city and the needs of the people.It becomes a model of affordable rental housing in Shanghai and can be used as a reference for other affordable rental housing construction.
