Many of the suburban cities were originally planned in areas with low population density where lands were widely available. However, as the population of these cities grew exponentially in the past decades, these cities become denser and denser and the land value skyrocketed. More street level commercial activities emerged within the communities of these suburban cities. They project concept is to reclaim the unused spaces as a result of the excessive street medians. The reclaimed street median space can be used for variety of functions such as Café, bike repair node, food pop up, etc. re-establishing the relationship between the activities on both sides of the street. The reclaimed space also reinforces existing crossings and pedestrian traffic. A simple architectural form is proposed with a minimal footprint is proposed to minimize the impact. Vegetation is maintained to capture its original beautification function.
