Site Information:
Music library consists of three main rooms: Reception & Gallery Hall, the Video & Music Room and the Music Library. It is often visited by professional musicians, yet the number of public visitors has decreased over recent years due to the lack of technology, design and functionality in Music library. This has motivated me to renovate interior space by providing smart technologies and translating music texture ‘High or Low pitch’ through interior design.
Project Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to merge between the Egyptian culture and the arts heritage to attract new generations especially youth in Egypt by choosing it as an advanced way to increase awareness and promote the beauty, remarkability and significance of the library, as they are often not taught the value of libraries thus do not recognize the importance and history of books and music.
Project Concept:
Texture is one of the music's fundamental elements, music's texture may be thick or thin. It may consist only of rhythm, or a melody line with chordal accompaniment, or a lot of melodies that harmonize.
Texture is how different sound streams relate and interact in a piece of music. When talking about this type of texture, words such as "Monophonic," "Homophonic," "Polyphonic" and "Heterophonic," are used.
1. Monophonic:
Monophonic music has no harmony or counterpoint but one melodic line. Rhythmicaccompaniment may exist, but there is only one line with specific pitches. It can also be called monophonic music. Although the word "monody" can also refer to a particular type of solo
song that was very common in the 1600s
2. Homophonic:
It is also possible to call homophonic music homophony. Homophony has a distinctly melodic line; it's the line that attracts your attention naturally. All other parts fill in or accompany the chords.
3. Polyphonic:
You can also call polyphonic music polyphony. If more than one independent melody is occurring at the same time, the music is polyphonic
4. Heterophonic:
In Western music, a heterophonic texture is rare. There is only one melody in
heterophony, but at the same time there are different variations of it being sung or played
The two main dimensions of music are rhythm and pitch. Rhythm is a common element in music and design so I chose this type of design element to emphasize lines, patterns, color, and texture by repeating them in an organized manner.

Systems & Technologies Details
1. Interactive Walls:
Microphone embedded to the wall and there will be sensors to cover all the sound in the interior space either played from the piano or any sound happen inside the space, then the sound will be automatically delivered to the microphone that is applied on the walls that will help the music tones result from the piano or any sound from human being to be translated into numbers and according to this sound it will be reflected as Interactive movement on the walls and lighting unit
Interactive movement will be controlled by embedded system called servo motor 180 degree that visually will make the walls move inside and outside that will create the monophonic textures line on the walls. Moreover, the pictures applied on the wall will also move according to the movement of the monophonic line
2. Interactive Screens & Tablets:
Interactive Screens features a contemporary map of the library. When viewers touch areas of the map, they access the library’s collection of historical photos and documents relevant to those locations. Smart virtual shelves recognize objects taken from a tray and display directly
3. Acoustic Panels:
- Acoustic Panels are products which can be used to control the sound quality of different spaces.
- Acoustic wood panels are produced with a reinforced fiber gypsum core, veneered with real wood veneer.
- The support material is always MDF fiberboard wood panels in standard or fireproof versions.
- Surface finishes can be raw, melamine, plywood, varnished or lacquered.
4. Virtual Screens:
Virtual screens is embedded with acoustic panels to present the sequence of high and low pitch of music while hearing the music in the video and audio room as it will be connected to sensors to control the level of the pitch from the music tone
5. Tulib Umbrella “ Solar System”:
- The Tulip parasols are equipped with high efficiency mono-crystalline Silicon solar cells on the claddings.
- The harvested energy is stored in a battery bank at the foot of the parasol.
- Produces sufficient energy to drive LED lamps and charge mobile phones.
- In addition, electrical engines for automated opening and closing of the parasols can also be powered by the solar energy.
- The cover is made up of individual segments which are screwed to the frame by Sterling Steel hooks at the top and by rust-proof screws at the ends of the spokes.
- The cover is replaceable and is fade, light and water resistant.
6. Aluno Tec Pergola:
- Its electronically controlled louvres can be opened and closed to your desired position.
7. Pepper Scrim 3D Hologram Stage:
- Is a unique, innovative product and one of the best materials for hologram projection.
- It provides any lighting designer with unlimited possibilities.
- Pepper Scrim is extremely lightweight and foldable
- Easy to transport.
- Tensioning the gauze on all 4 sides and using the right projector are key to obtain the best results with this 3D projection screen.
