The project involves developing a student dedicated spot in a university campus that acts as a 3D social network to generate a dynamic journey, to stimulate interactive learning and to offer students with multiple choices in terms of spatial experiences in order to ameliorate the campus life.
In this developed world where a person’s social life is restricted within computer and mobile screens, interactive learning and social gatherings is somehow blurred in the background. People prefer to stay connected through social media sites neglecting the significance of a physical space. Prominent reason for people’s addiction with social media sites is its ability to provide something for everyone, its factor of conformity and its intangible aspect of offering multiple choices. What if this aspect of multiple choices is offered in built Architecture? These choices can be in building programs, spatial experiences and architectural elements, giving building a characteristic of a 3D social network. However, for the success of any social space we need diverse people willing to come together so that their gathering activity can be turned into an act of innovation.
University campuses provides this opportunity where students from different backgrounds are brought together to sustain under same environment. Students today have turned into Digital natives and it has now become a challenge for universities to compete for student retention. For this we need spaces flexible enough to let people socialize based on their interest and within their comfort zone. It is important to consider that it is not only a building that offers varied amenities to the student body but is in fact an active public platform offering diverse Activities, that serves the recreation interests of the campus while showcasing campus’s traditions and way of life.
A student dedicated spot in a university campus with the major focus on developing interactive environments for creative learning and productive socializing would be an interesting addition in this regard. This could help students to strengthen connections among themselves, as the relationships a student fosters while on-campus helps to develop a professional network that can be fruitful after graduation. It needs to be a network to innovate and a platform to create.
