Today one of the biggest environmental problem is waste products. They are emerging rapidly and delivering this wastes to garbage causes pollution. In Turkey 1.5 billion recyclable waste goes to garbage and waste recycling percentage is just 1%. Recycling needs to be stimulated. Therefore this project focuses on sustainable solution for wastes at rural, vacant areas.
As concept, ‘Chalet Eco Village and Equitation’ is an agro-tourism centre combined with equitation education. Site is located at the suburban area of Izmir and has plenty of area for such kind of complex. It offers rural life, organic food production and equitation opportunity for the visitors. But what makes this village ecological? Since there will be animals and agriculture areas, there will be lots of waste within this complex. Also there is an existing village near to the project site and other villages around which have organic wastes as well. As sustainable concept, the idea is to collect organic wastes from eco village and collect fertilizer from horse barn, existing village, other villages around and use these items as input for biogas production. Biogas is achieved by decaying these organic wastes in anaerobic setting. Biogas is flammable gas that can be converted to electricity and heat energy also to fuel oil. Therefore produced energy can be used for living units, guest house and animal barns.
To protect the environment and for more sustainable world recycling is essential.
