Can architecture be provisional?

Traditionally buildings are regarded as definite works. When construction is done, the project is finished and the architect moves on. However, all buildings do in deed have provisional aspects: on the construction site as the building emerges stratum by stratum; when additions are built on to correspond new demands and eventually the ultimate metamorphose: when the building is renovated to something entirely new or simply demolished.

Lyon Provisional Prothesis is an experiment to work with 4 dimensional architecture (spacetime-related) rather than 3 dimensional (physical definite form).Process rather than design, metamorphose rather than object.

After some years the trees on the ground, that have been planted beforehand, have grown up. That is the cue to an upside-down reprogramming of the structure: the public recreational area is moved to the ground and the structure is rented out, bought by investors or simply removed from the site. The project has gone through a metamorphose just like a larva transforming into a butterfly.
