The main aim of my project was, from the one hand, to make a proposal of reconstruction of the old historical prewar buildings using old red lines and pictures which were preserved or drawings, which were preserved not very well, but still it’s possible to find necessary information. On the other hand, I was trying to crate a new, contemporary city, which architectural appearance will be based on new technology and new raw materials. But it’s very important to remember, that new architecture should not be the exact copy of former buildings, but be a kind of memorial of the past, it could be achieved by using glass and contemporary materials.
Nowaday this place is used as sports complex of the city. Existing building was built in the early 50-th, but finally it became out of date.
I didn’t want to break the existing functional scheme of the territory, that’s why I proposed to built up a new sports complex with a sports hall, where sports hall and rooms, adjacent to it will be placed underground. As a result ,above the ground we’ll have a free space for constructing open music hall, hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops etc. On the ground level the transportation problems of the site could be solved: entrances to the restaurants, parking places near by, loadings to the restaurants or shops. On the level +4500 it’s planned to make a pedestrian street, in that way, a problem of intersection pedestrians and cars could be solved.
I set a task in front of me to unify a legend about former town, which does not exist anymore, but which is still stay alive in the old pictures , drawings and memory of it’s former inhabitants. I wanted to add a new sounding of ordinary visual perception of the gothic city, also I wanted to unify musical compositions of the German famous composer Richard Wagner and music center of the new town.
