FIRST WE ASKED TO VISIT OLD DHAKA.WHEN I STARTED TO STUDY OLD DHAKA THE FIRST THING I NOTICED THE ORNAMENTATION THROUGH COLOR ALL OVER THE TOWN.OLD DHAKA IS MUCH MORE DECORATIVE THAN THE NEW ONE.IN MY STUDY I HAVE ACCUMULATED AN AGGREGATE OF MEMORIES,OF THE LIVES AND OBJECTS THAT SHAPE ITS PARTICULAR CHARACTER AND THE FORCES THAT HAVE TENACIOUSLY AND PATIENTLY BROUGHT IT TO ITS PRESENT DEMEANOUR.AND I HAVE INDENTIFIED THE “ARCH GATEWAYS” AS ARTIFACT OF THAT TOWN.
THE MAIN THING I SAW IS THE ARCH GATEWAYS USED AS A DECORETIVE ELEMENT FROM THE BEGINING OF THE OLD DHAKA TO NOW.PEOPLE USES ARCHES IN ENTRY, PASSEGE, BARANDA, STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS AND MOST OF THE TIME AS A DECORATIVE ELEMENTS.IN OLD DHAKA ARCHES ARE EVERYWHERE SUCH AS SHOTO KATRA,LALBAGH KELLA,AHSAN MANJIL,TARA MOSQUE AND IN MANY RESIDENCE AND IN EVERY LOCAL MOSQUES.ARCHES ARE USED AS GATEWAY MOSTLY IN OLD DHAKA IN NEGLECTED WAY.MOST OF THE PEOPLE LIVING IN NEW DHAKA DONOT KNOW ABOUT THE OLD DHAKA.

i thought to create a place where people can know about the old Dhaka city through hanging out with friends and family and where arches are used as an object (that having interest by reasons of its age or its association with the past) to exhibit. the objective of the place to know about the essence of old Dhaka while passing through the place and encourage people to visit the old Dhaka to know the history of the Dhaka. this place will something like a trace of the past or outmoded practice architecture
