Palma is a city of cloisters and patios.
The patio enclosure as containment geometrically clear. The patio as a vestige of the Mediterranean architectural tradition. The patio as a meeting point. The patio as a sculpted void. The patio as a filter. The patio as a rest area. The patio as an access point. The patio as a source of natural light.
The project draws a solid enclosure geometrically very clear: a square. A very thick wall separates the interior of the outside. Within this strong mass we sculp a courtyard. The patio is very different from the container that contains it. The enclosure has a clear and rigid geometry, it looks solid, opaque, strong, thick, impenetrable. The patio has a free and flexible geometry, it looks fragile, transparent, ethereal, made of reflexes.
