We Live Architects has completed a rounded glass flower house in Chongqing, China. 

Called Joybo Flower House, the proejct was developed as part of a larger masterplan, including other facilities such as Land Tavern, Land Museum, Field Store, Field Toilet, Snail Garden and entrance landscape.

Located on the fourth peninsula to the south of Land Tavern, the project is situated within the Island Hopping Village where the studio was commissioned to transform a contryside into a new village to serve to the local community.

For Island Hopping Village, the architects said that "the one small stream flows into a main river, with several peninsulas sits alongside." 

"We choose to locate architecture and functional areas on these peninsulas, to create a special route like 'Island Hopping', which brings an exchanging experience from different unique scenes."

"There is no preconception about what a country supposed to look like, however we focus on which type of space form fits these peninsulas best, to talk with the natural environment with the most original geometric form of space.release nature and enjoy," the office added.

The site is 15 minutes’ drive from Joybo Distillery and is the raw material planting base of the liquor production, also a key linkage of primary, secondary and tertiary industries of the Joybo Group.

The fully-glazed flower house is formed as a simplest round spot, the flower house is a glass house sitting inside the herbaceous border with plants from inside out and reflection of the sky from the curved glass.

Elevated by one meter to put the air conditional external unit underneath, which allows the whole facade as a continues curved glass surface and plants inside visible from views all around. 

The studio has added metal panels on the top to control the light and shade to deal with the extreme hot weather in the summer.
