Vietnamese architecture practice Idee architects has designed a sinuous and reflective canopy for a pavilion on Hanoi hills in Vietnam

Named Quic Pavilion, the 300-square-metre pavilion is a serene retreat nestled amidst a small forest enclave for the campers.

Idee architects envisioned a structure that is covered by a fluid canopy, offering a picturesque vista of the Ba Vi mountain range, a rural expanse proximate to Hanoi. Enveloped by verdant foliage and verdant meadows, the Quin Pavilion fosters an immersive communion with nature.

The program of the pavilion includes bathroom and restroom units. The bathroom area is located within an elliptical brick unit in the pavilion, while the restroom units are placed in units slightly further away.

Embracing the undulating terrain, the pavilion's design encompasses a meandering wooden pathway encircling the woodland and an outdoor pool where campers can unwind, swim, and rejuvenate.

The structure is finely tuned to its natural environment, with a delicate canopy supported by slender columns, delivering expansive views of the surrounding landscape.

The design draws inspiration from nature, evoking the ephemeral allure of rainwater pools on grass or clouds atop hillsides, harmonizing with the topography of the hillock and the surrounding flora.

Made from lightweight materials, the canopy is built from stainless steel exuding a lustrous sheen. Through its reflective surface, it mimics the natural panorama, and the pavilion seamlessly integrates into its environs by day, yet commands attention at twilight.

"Constructed under constraints of limited resources and remote locale, the architect judiciously employed lightweight, prefabricated materials complemented by indigenous elements such as wood, stone, and brick, tailored to the skillset of local craftsmen," said Idee architects.
