The project's name pays tribute to the Dutch colonial settlers who, in 1636, named the area "Roode Hoek" (Dutch for “Red Point”) on an area of Brooklyn noted for its red clay soil and pointed shape jutting into the Upper New York Bay. Today, Red Hoek Point honors this history, while celebrating an exciting future.
