Łódź Design Festival will be held on 12 - 22 May 2022 in Poland

The only thing we can be sure of in life is change. It is worth keeping a close eye on the world around us to get a better understanding of the prospects ahead of us and to prepare for the new. This year’s edition of the Łódź Design Festival 2022 RE:GENERATION is an invitation to join forces to seek answers to the challenges of the future.

The organizers of the festival promise a unique and attractive programme, which will include the make me! contest, the must have plebiscite, as well as many interesting exhibitions and art shows.

This year’s edition of the Łódź Design Festival will be held on 12 - 22 May 2022. The concept of the 10-day RE:GENERATION is introduced by Michał Piernikowski, the director of the ŁDF: "The beginning of the third decade of the 21st century is a time of new changes.  We experience many fears but we also have hope, we stick to nostalgia, but, on the other hand, we create bold visions of the future.  This is also a time for reconstructing various elements of our lives."

"The upcoming edition of the Łódź Design Festival 2022, held under the slogan of RE:GENERATION, will be an incentive to look for answers to these challenges. During the festival, we will present activities which are conducive to both individual and systemic reconstruction.  We will look for ways to regenerate not only the natural environment, but also the urban fabric, social institutions and, most importantly - each of us."

The Łódź Design Festival does not only involve exhibitions in the Art_Inkubator space and the city space, art shows and events for younger audiences. ŁDF is also the make me! international design contest for young designers and the must have plebiscite, distinguishing the best implementations from Polish designers and producers.

The make me! contest 2022

The make me! contest supports young designers who choose bold ideas in their projects and are not afraid to set trends in the world of design.  Works may be submitted from 15 December 2021 to 28 March 2022, and this year’s prize pool is PLN 60,000. The sponsor of the special 10,000 PLN prize is INTERPRINT Polska.

make me! This, in turn, is one of the most innovative events in the field of design in Europe and a key element of the Łódź Design Festival. The most important goal of make me! is to forecast the upcoming trends, bold ideas and to support young designers aged 20-35 who are ready to take off.  The finalists of the previous editions emphasize the opportunities that have opened up for them thanks to their participation in the contest, such as: recognition in the design community, promotion through numerous publications or numerous exhibitions.  The contest, organized since 2008, is addressed not only to designers, but also to entrants to artistic and design faculties.  Dedicated to all those who are inspired in their design process by an impulse triggered by the perception of a need or a problem.  make me! also awards projects which experiment with material or look for new interpretations of the existing functions.  The submitted works are assessed in two stages by a specially-selected jury, diverse in their interests, and thanks to the presentation of projects at the exhibition and thanks to contacts with experts open to the public, make me! can be a real springboard for further professional development.

Information about the contest: regulations, timetable, application form, jury, recommendations and inspirations can be found on the contest website.
