Carlo Ratti to discuss the Future of Mobility and Autonomous World in WAC's Instagram Live

Carlo Ratti, founding partner of Carlo Ratti Associati and director of the Senseable City Lab at MIT, will be WAC's new guest architect in WAC's Live Interview Series. The new session will be hosted by WAC editor-in-chief Berrin Chatzi Chousein.

WAC's live interview series explore different themes decided by WAC Country Reporter or Country Editor in each session. In WAC's new session, Carlo Ratti, who is behind significant tech-driven projects, will discuss the future of mobility and the autonomous world, as well as the projects of the studio. 

One of the studio's latest projects includes Cura, a moveable intensive care unit to be used for the treatment of coronavirus patients around the world. The first prototype was built in Milan, Italy. 

Ratti is a leading voice in the debate on new technologies’ impact on urban life, his work has been exhibited in several venues worldwide, including the Venice Biennale, New York’s MoMA, London’s Science Museum, Barcelona’s Design Museum and Bi-City Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism. 

Carlo Ratti was the Chief Curator the 2019 Shenzhen’s Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (UABB), which aimed to critically explore the impact of digital technologies on communities and urban space. 

Three of his projects – the Digital Water Pavilion, the Copenhagen Wheel and Scribit– were hailed by Time Magazine as "Best Inventions of the Year". 

He has been included in Wired Magazine’s "Smart List: 50 people who will change the world". He is currently serving as co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Cities and Urbanization.

Carlo Ratti Associati is currently working on the extension of Brasilia's historical masterplan with high-tech innovation district and a floating garden that brings an alternate mobility system to the waterfront of Lugano in Switzerland. 

Carlo Ratti Associati has offices in Torino and New York.

WAC's live interviews are held as 20-30-minute sessions to deliver a quick glimpse of the current projects of the architect and provide a fast-paced discussion on the architects' design philosophy.
