The Building Pictures has revealed a new film about the rehabilitation of Bom Sucesso School by CREA, it focuses on the construction of a sports complex and a new kindergarten Barbosa du Bocage.
The film begins with the contextualization of the school, in the urban fabric. It is there, right in the center of a densely populated area, that the school project is located. You can hear the noise of cars and the frantic bustle of the city.

In an initial phase, the empty school is observed, the birds chirping can be heard ... With the morning dawn, the bell rings and the space is invaded by children. They run everywhere, playing on the ocher-colored screed that marks the perimeter of the tree-lined playground.
The intervention plan included the rehabilitation of the basic school, opened in 1958, as well as the demolition of the prefabricated one where the kindergarten was installed and the construction of two new volumes, which reorder the relationship with the street.
The film ends with several aerial plans showing the contrast between the school, camouflaged among the trees in the playground, and the consolidated concrete block in which it is involved, right in the center of Porto.
Returned now to the school community, Bom Sucesso school reflects the project that included the careful rehabilitation of existing buildings and the new Barbosa du Bocage kindergarden.
The volumes built reorder the relationship with the street and shape the outdoor playground’ space, with the criteria established in the openings as a background: the east-facing rooms, with the presence of natural light throughout the new kindergarden, and the new multipurpose ripped in the playground, framing the treetops to the south.
A blue square for games punctuates the ocher pavement of the tree-shaded playground.
