Michel Rojkind joins WeWork as Senior Vice President of Architecture

Mexican architect and founder of Rojkind Arquitectos Michel Rojkind has been appointed as the new Senior Vice President of Architecture at The We Company, an extension company of WeWork.
Michel Rojkind will closely work with BIG's founder Bjarke Ingels for the company's major projects as the company continues to grow for its upcoming projects. Bjarke Ingels was oppointed as Chief Architect of the company in May 2018.
Rojkind will be heading his first major project for the company's new 18,581-square-metre building in Bentonville, Arkansas, which will be a new location of the company. The new building will house retail, community space and work space for more than 3,200 WeWork members across several floors, according to a company's news release.
Global co-working company WeWork works and develops work spaces that can led community-led interaction spaces for different business tenants. The new building will be the new built project and its first location in Arkansas. Groundbreaking for the building is scheduled for 2020.

"It's part of an ecosystem changing how we work, live and learn all over the world and are thrilled to welcome Bentonville to our global community," said Miguel McKelvey, WeWork co-founder and chief culture officer, reported Arkansas Online.
"Coming from New York city, when we first thought of coming to Bentonville I felt, 'Why?'" McKelvey said. "Then I came here." The quality of life is outstanding, he said, and so is the entrepreneurial climate, he said. His company and the town will be a perfect fit, he said.
"The We Company will provide to the project its fully integrated platform including core and shell design." The We Company said in a statement: "construction, and management expertise to service small and medium-sized businesses as well as to tap the area’s large enterprise community."
Rojkind, 49, founded Rojkind Arquitectos in 2002 in Mexico and Rojkind Arquitectos produces multi-scaled projects in Mexico and outside of Mexico. Rojkind is known with his community-driven design approach during his design process.

The We Company is developed as a larger extension of WeWork, like WeGrow - an education platform and WeLive - a housing development. WeGrow completed its first school with BIG on West 18th Street in Manhattan, the school aimed at focusing on children's abilities and revaling their talents at early stages.
WeWork was founded in 2010, and led by three entrepreneurs Adam Neumann, Rebekah Neumann and Miguel McKelvey in New York - the company transforms buildings into beautiful, dynamic environment for creativity with a detailed focus and connection.
