The Grey to Green Conference on Green Infrastructure Moves to the Twin Cities Region This Fall

The Grey to Green Conference on green infrastructure moves to the Twin Cities Region for the first time from Sept 30 to October 1, 2019. The two-day conference features keynote speakers, over 30 technical sessions, cutting edge training courses, expert tours and fantastic networking events. 

The Grey to Green Conference: Twin Cities will be held at the McNamara Alumni Center, University of Minnesota. The conference agenda and registrations are open. 

The Twin Cities to share best practices in green infrastructure policy, design, research, products and services and to learn from regional efforts," said Steven W. Peck, GRP, Honorary ASLA, Founder and President, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. 

"The Twin Cities are known for innovation, particularly in regard to sustainable water management, a key benefit of widespread green infrastructure implementation," he added. 

"At the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi, St. Paul and Minneapolis have a unique opportunity to address important issues such as water quality, climate change adaptation, workforce development, and urban resiliency with green infrastructure technology," said Michael Krause, Co-Chair of the Conference Advisory Committee and Co-Founder of the Green Infrastructure Foundation. 

"The effects of climate change are already greatly affecting the region. The Twin Cities are dealing with greater flooding and Minneapolis suffers from one of the worst Urban Heat Islands in the U.S.," he added.  

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) is the North American Industry Association for the green roof and wall industry which it is building through advocacy and training. The Green Infrastructure Foundation is the charitable arm of GRHC and partners with communities to shape healthy, resilient and sustainable places using green infrastructure.  

Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan will be attending to the Twin Cities Grey to Green Conference to offer welcoming remarks. Mayor Jacob Frey has been invited to the Twin Cities Grey to Green Conference to welcome the attendees and give a short overview on the green infrastructure policy that Minneapolis and the Twin Cities is working on.
