MAD Architects has created a rabbit-like inflatable pavilion as an acting playground for kids, which has been installed to be presented during Beijing Design Week 2017.
Named Wonderland, the giant pavilion has big ears and inflated body, which creates the 6,5-square-metre space for children to meet, play and socialize in a new playful public space. Created for Beijing Design Week 2017, Wonderland - a temporary pavilion is located in an old hutong near Lama Temple.
Acting as a playground, it provides a lively public space where kids living in the area can stop by after school to socialize and interact with one another. Through the form of a rabbit, Wonderland brings a carefree spirit and sense of whimsy to this old Beijing neighborhood.
"Its playful attitude provides an escape from reality. Surrounded by its soft walls, under the blue sky and green trees, children can play, daydream and drift off into their own fantasy wonderland, in pursuit of happiness," said MAD.
Wonderland can be seen throughout Beijing Design Week 2017, a unique city-wide festival celebrating creativity and innovation in Chinese design. The annual event started on September 23, 2017 and will continue until October 7, 2017.
