The fifth edition of the Lisbon Triennale will interrogate ''specificity of rationality'' for today’s contemporary architecture, which is not only related to historical references but also radical meanings of architectural theory.

''Contemporary architecture seems split between iconic buildings that aim to be monuments by forgetting their links to history and to the theoretical issues upon which the discipline has rested for ages, on the one hand, and buildings which are sated with historical references considered as an almost infinite reservoir of forms ready to be mixed at will, irrespective of their condition of appearance and meaning, on the other hand,'' stated the curatorial team for the conceptual framework of the Lisbon Triennale.

''In order to try overcoming these typical dead ends of post-truth architecture, this proposal wishes to state that high architecture has always been based on a specific rationality. This rationality is what allows buildings to communicate clear as well as obscure but always understandable meanings through the poetics of architecture.''

''The fifth Triennale will aim to define the specificity of architectural rationality in order to keep creating relevant architectures bound to the past without nostalgia or literal quotations, and linked to this eternal core of architectural theory that needs to be permanently updated and modified so as to remain the same,'' added the curatorial team.

The jury, highlighted the structure of the team as determinant in the choice: ''By combining a strong individual professional activity, all elements work together, namely in conducting research projects, which will continue to fuel the reflection in this edition of the triennial,'' stated in the judging panel description.

International Jury also highlighted his experience in architectural design as in the essays that he develops around the theme of architecture and organization of exhibitions.

Last year, Lisbon Architecture Triennale requestioned new notions of authorship and the limits of form with the title ''The Form of Form''.
