aLL Design were approached by Quintain to develop ideas for the façade to this multi-storey car park which had been designed by Leslie Jones Architects. The car park provides 732 spaces to serve Wembley Stadium as well as the recently completed London Designer Outlet shopping mall. Due to the building's prominent location next to Wembley Stadium, the local authority asked Quintain to design the building in a way which hides its use and contributes to the character of the Wembley master plan.

The design was developed as a dynamic cladding system, which changes as you walk around the building and from day to night. The resulting 'tickertape' style appears as random fins in red, white, black and chrome, however the panels are carefully designed to be cut from a standard sheet of recycled aluminum with minimal waste during construction.

The fins have not only been used for their aesthetics but are also functional and limit views into the car park whilst allowing sunlight in and views out. This incorporates a fixing system designed so that the angle of each fin can be adjusted and changed over time.
