reSITE's 2018 conference announces confirmed speakers and highlights gender rebalance

Jeanne Gang, Michel Rojkind and OMA’s Reinier de Graaf are amongst the confirmed guests to speak at reSITE 2018's conference, the annual international forum showcasing better solutions for our urbanized world.

Celebrating the seventh edition of the conference this year, the event will focus on the future of housing and housing of the future. reSITE 2018, the most interactive architecture and urbanism event, will present 50 international speakers from 30 countries, surrounded by a 1000+ audience gathering architects, planners, bottom-up innovators and municipal and private sector leaders on June 14–15, 2018 at Prague’s Forum Karlin.

“Housing is different than other types of development because it's intensely personal and always so closely tied to our well-being and quality of life in the city. The cost of living has become one of the most pressing puzzles of our generation across the globe and inequality pose considerable challenges for city leaders, investors, planners and architects to design a city that works for everyone," said Martin Barry, Chairman of reSITE.

The event is also presenting a special promotion entitled “Women Make Cities”, which is available for all women in the profession. reSITE will again encourage female designers, architects and women in cities leadership to attend the conference.

A special promotion “Women Make Cities” has been introduced offering a 70% discount from the standard registration fee to all women working in design, architecture, cities leadership and administration (bringing the price to €75). The event aims to rebalance the sector and serve as an example by improving the ratio on our stage and in the audience. Tickets can be purchased from here.

World Architecture Community is official media partner of this year's event and will be bring you the hottest topics, live-discussions and keynote sessions from the two-day event with exclusive interviews.

Fifty speakers will present and discuss from reSITE’s 360-degree stage, curated by Greg Lindsay. "The most beloved qualities of our cities have transformed them into luxury goods. Having a ‘right to the city’ begins with housing, and that’s why we need new strategies, technologies, and protections to build homes for all of us, fairly, equitably, and sustainably. That’s where the theme of reSITE 2018 begins,” explained the new guest curator of the event Greg Lindsay, a writer, journalist and urbanist.

reSITE 2018 will house a series of keynotes, panel discussions, field trips, interactive workshops, tours, parties, with an unforgettable dinner at this year's event. reSITE is a one-of-a-kind experience combining the best ideas in the world from the bottom to the top.

Jeanne Gang, the Founding Principal of Chicago-based Studio Gang and the architect whose name made the hot list for this year's Pritzker Prize is one of the most anticipated guests to speak in Prague this June. Her work at a recent MoMA exhibition "Foreclosed: Rehousing the American Dream" will be a highlight.

OMA’s Partner Reinier de Graaf's first book "Four Walls and a Roof," will be revealed at the event, where we expect him to explain that architecture will always be flawed as long as humans conceive, create and build it.

reSITE will welcome the Founder of Rojkind Arquitectos Michel Rojkind, one of "150 Movers, Shakers and Makers That Have Rocked the World in the Last 15 Years" according to the Wallpaper magazine. His latest achievement, the Foro Boca concert and culture hall was recently inaugurated in Mexico.

Another keynote lecture will be given by Richard Burdett, a Professor of Urban Studies at the London School of Economics and Director of the Urban Age and LSE Cities. Amongst the bottom-up initiatives and innovators, reSITE will highlight URBZ’ Matias Echanove & Rahul Srivastava and Dark Matter Labs’ Indy Johar.

Registrations is open, with a huge discount for students, “Women Make Cities” promotion and several options for professionals.
