Yang Jun Design Office in China designed "Line Park", an integrated platform of home life and art fashion located in “Dongxin He Chuang Yuan” in Hangzhou, China. The design takes inspiration from line application of Superkilen Park designed by Topotek 1 + BIG Architects + Superflex in Copenhagen. As a place that gathers classical furniture and pioneering artworks from top designers in Europe, it not only functions as a public park, but also an art gallery for exhibitions.
According to the design office, the building belongs to an old factory’s dormitory building of the 80’s. In the transformation of architectural functions, the handling of light, moving lines, structure, space and color tried to reflect a different glamour in the old building.
The building in the north is the Living Art Gallery, where the first and second floors were planned with showrooms to present furniture & accessories, and the upper space in the lobby provides coffee and other drinks.
Named Line Park, the building will also cooperate with artists, curators and art institutions to hold art exhibitions. Its Branding Director mentioned that "the first exhibition was held on Dec. 23rd, 2017, and 16 artists have participated: Guo Jing, Hu Nan, Huang Zhen, Li Ying, Ma Mingze, Sun Ke, Shi Yin, Yan Hongchi, Yan Lei, Yao Xiao, Zhang Beibei, Zhu Dan, Zhan Jinjuan, Zhang Qingzhu, Zhu Qianwen, Zhang Zhanzhan."
Vistors can see furniture designed by big names, for example, Philippe Starck, Osvaldo Borsani, Pierre Paulin, Finn Juhl, Fabio Lenci, Philip Arctander, Ludwig Mies van der Roh and others in Europe, most of their classic works are from the 1950s and 60s.
The accessories include dozens of brands such as House Doctor, MENU, Hübsch, SERAX, Bloomingville, Spring copenhagen and Design Letters, among which are some of the most avant-garde fashion items collected from all over the world.
Line Park values classic design, emphasizes its art and intrinsic value, the designers hope to convey the inheritance of objects through each piece of classic furniture, at the same time, they are looking for interesting brands and items, and keep introducing them into the space to present more products that meet the spirit of its own character.
Yang Jun Design Office explained that, "Line Park's outdoor park is littered with classic seats that were founded from around the world. The pattern on the ground was designed by Mei Suzhi, the art director of 702design, with the curved lines conveying the atmosphere of play.
"The design of the outdoor park is guided by the concept of interactive and open in Line Park. Whether it is a family reunion, or leisure trip, people can freely enjoy a pleasant time here, children can play, adults can drink and chat, there will be more interaction between people and places."
"Public access" connects the Line Park and the District, where the public art installation "road show" will be held on a regular basis, which will become the "stage" performed by representative avant-garde artists who have their own concepts. Li Ming, the artist who has just won the award of HUGO BOSS Asia's new artist award, showed his installation work, "the cigarette is pure - chapter II safe exit".
"Line Park hopes to bring more 'possibility' to people through the 'public access', and provide a platform for artists or craftsmen who have ideas to show themselves, moreover, let friends can enjoy more excellent artworks here and increase the public aesthetic taste with a more open attitude," added the firm.
