Landscape architecture and urban design at the top at LAUD Warsaw Expo Conference, on 27 May,2015

Examples of international landscape architecture and urban design practice excellence from six contries, in the program of LAUD Warsaw expo conference

LAUD International Landscape Architecture and Urban Design Expo Conference is taking place on 27 May 2015 at Radisson Blu Centrum Hotel Warsaw. The event is organized by the professional event organizer ABplus Events, with the support of SAK – The Association of Landscape Architects and TUP – The Society of Polish Town Planners .

The field of landscape architecture and urban design at the top will be covered with examples of international practice excellence from Spain, London, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland. LAUD International Architecture Expo Conference is addressed to architects, landscape architects, urbanists, city chief architects, city managers, directors within city halls and companies with solutions for architecture, design and outdoor planning. Over 200 participants in the audience will attend the 2015 edition. The aim of the expo conference is to promote at an European level the best practice examples in contemporary landscape architecture and urban design.

LAUD confirmed its appeal by the interest shown by the public for a full day of lectures and presentations, to which questions and interactions of the speakers with participants will be added. Recent natural and anthropic landscapes, part of the fundamental infrastructure essential to different communities, will be presented at LAUD Warsaw International Expo Conference by their creators, awarded landscape architects and urban designers from six countries: Keynote Speaker arch. Marti Franch Batllori, winner of Rosa Barba European Landscape Prize of the 7 European Biennial of Landscape Architecture, Keynote Speaker LAUD, will present the project Tudela-Culip (Club Med) Restoration Project in ‘Cap de Creus’ Cape from Spain, presented at an international scale as possibly the biggest restoration project in the whole of the Mediterranean basin, including, among others, the selective deconstruction of 450 buildings and the paradigmatic management of 42.000m3 of residue,  the elimination of all invasive exotic species and the preservation of the values of the area by ordering and grading the itinerary and proposing a network of rock and animal identifiers. Martí Franch Batllori gives classes for Superior Graduate of Landscape Gardening and for the Landscape Architecture Masters in the Superior School of Architecture in Barcelona (ETSAB) and the teaching of Landscape Supervision and Management at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

Dr. Markus Jatsch, winner of ASLA Honour Award and Chicago Atheneum Award in 2012 will present at LAUD WARSAW 2015 his recent works, including the Fengming Mountain Park in China, the Sowwah Square in Abu Dhabi and the Place de la Republique in Paris.

Markus Jatsch is registered as architect and urban planner in Germany and the United Kingdom and is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects RIBA. He is also a visiting professor for Landscape Art at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and director of Martha Schwartz Partners, placed in Top 10 of the most influential landscape architects of the last 5 centuries, alongside renowned landscape architects such as Antoni Gaudí, André Le Nôtre or Lancelot Brown, with offices in the United Kingdom, the United States and China.

Prof. Robert Tregay, Chairman of LDA Design from London, the winner of the 2014 edition of the Landscape Institute Awards- both President’s Award and the College of Fellows Award for Climate Change Adaption, will present at LAUD Wrasaw the project „Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon”, the world’s first man-made energy-generating tidal lagoon. Prof. Tregay has over 40 years of professional experience, and his work ranging from masterplanning to climate change, renewable energy and green infrastructure design project has won many planning and design awards. The regeneration work of LDA Design includes some of the most recognisable and well known projects in the UK such as the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station, the design and transformation of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and the masterplanning of major new mixed use communities in London such as Meridian Water.

PGE Arena Gdansk - new leisure centre, the project lead by RKW Rhode Kellermann Wawrowsky Architektur+Städtebau, one of Germany’s most successful architectural offices, with over 100 national and international awards, will be presented at LAUD Warsaw 2015 edition by the project manager dipl. Ing. arch. Bozenna Wawrzyniak-Manko. PGE Arena won in 2013 the Prize for the best sport project of Poland, awarded by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and now it is already neighboured by new Exhibition and Convention Centre Amberexpo. Within 5-6 years the surroundings of PGE Arena Gdansk are to become a nationwide centre for leisure as new theme park, aquapark, tropical gardens, hotel and spa are to join the stadium. Before Euro 2012 this was a largely abandoned industrial precinct which is now reviving dynamically with new access routes.

Landscape architect Steven Delva, founder of Delva Landscape Architects, the office  from the Netherlands that won in 2013 the international competition for desiging the project “Garden of the 21st Century” – part of Lazienki Park, with integrated exhibition pavilion, speaks at LAUD Expo Conference about the project in Warsaw that he prepared together with Michael van Gessel, Mecanoo and Jojko Nawrocki Architekci. Steven Delva is a regular guest judge on various international universities and teaches at the European Master of Urbanism in Leuven, Belgium and at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Arh. Giuseppe Tortato from Italy, will present „La Forgiatura” project in Milan that has brought him national and international attention: he was the only Italian selected from 40 candidates for the Energy Performance Architecture Award 2013 and received special mention at ECO WAN Award Reuse Award 2014 and The Plan Award, category “Old and New”. La Forgiatura rappresented for many years the excellence of Italian and international metallurgical industry and tts regeneration has allowed to upgrade more than 14.000 square meters of existing buildings to which were added 10.000 square meters of new construction, for a total of 7 buildings for office and showroom space. Over the past ten years arh. Giuseppe Tortato has been focusing on main real estate projects, the design of new building complexes and planning urban regeneration and is now working on projects in Switzerland and China. He has worked as a lecturer in hotel design with the Politecnico in Milan and La Sapienza University in Rome. For Beni Stabili, he designed the concept of the Green Business Hotel in Milan and for GVA Redilco, the project for the Hôtel Métropole Opéra in Paris, winner of the Hospitality Award 2010.

Polish landscape architects Dariusz Malinowski, Founder at Malinowski Design, and Dorota Rudawa, Partner at RS Architektura Krajobrazu, involved in a number of projects in Poland and abroad, are among the speakers that will will share fruitful insights from their practice at LAUD Warsaw 2015 edition.

The concept of the series of events organized in Warsaw and Bucharest, among which LAUD International Expo Conference, is focused on displaying what it has been done in contemporary architecture, landscape architecture and urban design at its best level, with the participation and active support of prominent speakers, among whom the winners of international competitions.

Simultaneusly with LAUD International Landscape Architecture and Urban Design will be organized in Warsaw INGLASS International Glass Architecture and Glass Engineering Expo Conference. The next event event in Warsaw in ABplus Events and Pro Event Association calendar of events is RIFF International Expo Conference – Façades, Roofs, Insulations, that is scheduled to take place on October 6, 2015. From the same series of events organized in Warsaw, GIS International Interior Architecture and Interior Design Expo Conference opened the architectural year in Poland on February 9, 2015.
