Ms.Bhavana Gulaty completed her Bachelors in Architecture in 2000 and Masters in Architecture with specialization in Urban Design in 2002, both from the School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi.She has 15+ years of cumulative experience in research and professional work. During the course of her career she has worked with reputed international and national design firms including Arcop Associates Pvt. Ltd, IBI Consultancy India Pvt. Ltd and C.P. Kukreja Architects. She is currently an Associate at AECOM India Pvt. Ltd. All in all, her association with global firms has given her invaluable international experience.
Some of the prestigious projects she has worked on include PMC for India International Convention Centre (IICC), Dwarka at New Delhi , PMC for Panaji Smart City, Goa and Tirupati Smart City, Andhra Pradesh, Comprehensive Redevelopment Plan for City of Lake City, Florida, Study on Naya Raipur Transit Oriented Development (TOD), master planning of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Hyderabad, and architectural design of faculty residences for Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Jodhpur, amongst a host of others.
Her experience includes concept and visioning, design presentation, design development and preparation of GFC drawings of diverse projects ranging from Transit Oriented Development, Smart City projects, Convention centres, multi-family residential, residential towships, educational campus master plans, mixed use developments, malls, and hotels. The site area of these projects ranged from 5 acres to 500 acres and built up areas was as high as 20 million square feet.
As a designer, Ms.Gulaty’s work has been recognised in International Design Competitions as well. Her awards include a Finalist award by the Mayor of the city in the Kaohsiung International Urban Design Competition organized by Urban Development Bureau of Kaohsiung and an Honorable Mention in the RAIA/SONA International Students’ Design Competition organized by the Royal Australian Institute of Architects. In addition to these, her design for an Observatory for Northern Lights was the only Indian shortlisted entry from 167 participants in the Line of Site International Design Competition.
Ms. Gulaty has also demonstrated exceptional research and writing skills. She leads technical writing at AECOM by way of authoring and reviewing Inception Reports, Concept Reports, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and Bid Proposals. She also profiled the works of C.P.Kukreja Architects which have been published in leading Indian architectural journals.
She was recently awarded the Circle of Excellence Award at AECOM for jointly presenting a paper at the 4th International Urban Planning & Property Development (UPPD) Conference at Singapore. The paper titled, “Powering Cities by COEXistence: The COEX Biosphere as the Agent of Change” has been published in the Annual Proceedings of this Conference organized by Global Science & Technology Forum (GSTF), Singapore.
In addition, her research work titled ‘Colonial Capitals: Intentions and Projections: A Local view of the Colonial Viewpoint’ was one of the 25 shortlisted entries screened by the Full Committee of the Rockefeller Foundation. The theme of the Research work was “ Other Globalizatons, Histories, Trans-regionalisms and Cultural Formations’ as part of the Resident Fellowships in the Humanities and the Study of Culture organized by the Center of Cultural Studies at University of California, Santa Cruz, USA.
