Space10 and architects Mads-Ulrik Husum and Sine Lindholm have designed a multi-sensory pavilion to grow food inside the cities where people can grow their own foods, smell, taste and enjoy. Installed at this year's Chart Art Fair in Copenhagen, the architects propose an alternative urban farming to provide a response to food production system that people and suppliers are experiencing everyday.

Called The Growroom, this simple mechanism proposes cheap food regarding to its scale, chemicals and fuel. Urban farming is one of many great food producing architecture initiatives that tackle some of the problems in today’s food production. With advances in accessible equipment, it enables the many people to become small scale farmers and grow food that tastes better, is healthier, more nutritional and doesn’t put massive pressure on our dwindling supplies of fresh water nor our environment.

''The regular systems put massive pressure on other dwindling supplies of fresh water and requires loads of resources for production, transport and cooling. Disturbingly one third of the food we produce also goes to waste due to spoilage and overproduction,'' says the designers of Growroom.

The Growroom pavilion at Chart Art Fair demonstrates the awesome potential of urban farming combined with artistic set up as an work-of-art with its colour, circular form and compact design. Packed with herbs, veggies, and edible plants, it becomes an artistic exploration and a green invitation to a multi-sensory experience.

On Saturday judges, Bjarke Ingels, Kristoffer Lindhardt Weiss, Dorte Foss, Tom Emerson and Jaimee Williams revealed the winning pavilion.
