“Following a rigorous process from over 1,000 submissions, this year’s 2018 shortlist of 380 projects," stated Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, Museum President, The Chicago Athenaeum, and added “shows the power and payback of investing in quality architecture, illustrating perfectly how well-designed buildings are worth every penny and can exceed the expectations of the community they serve."

"The projects on the shortlist were judged against a range of criteria including design vision; innovation and originality; capacity to stimulate, engage and delight occupants and visitors; accessibility and sustainability; how fit the building is for its purpose and the level of client satisfaction."

"The Museum champions better buildings, communities, and the environment through which architecture can flourish. Our awards schemes provide one of the most powerful ways of promoting architecture and the work of our members to the public."

"I am delighted with this year’s selection which shows a great variety of imagination and ingenuity," added Narkiewicz-Laine.
