Dar Al Dakira: Reimagining Memory

At the heart of Casablanca’s historic medina, Dar Al Dakira stands as a delicate balance between tradition and modernity. This project is rooted in a vision where architecture and memory converse, preserving the spirit of the place while offering a contemporary interpretation.

The concept is built on an essential duality: opaque and transparent, solid and void, vernacular and contemporary. Far from merely replicating the past, Dar Al Dakir reinterprets key elements of traditional Moroccan architecture. Courtyards, plays of light and shadow, and local textures are revisited through a minimalist lens.

Modern materials such as concrete, glass, and metal harmonize with traditional elements like zellige tiles and wood. Every detail and proportion has been carefully considered to honor the balance and rhythm of historical structures while meeting the functional and aesthetic demands of contemporary spaces.

Dar Al Dakira is a home—a place of intimacy and tranquility, offering a sense of refuge amidst the vibrant life of the medina. At the same time, it opens outward: transparency and open volumes invite light to sculpt the interiors, creating a poetic and timeless atmosphere.

This project does not impose itself on its environment. It integrates, respects, and engages in dialogue. Through its architecture, Dar Al Dakira tells a story: one of heritage preserved, elevated, and carried forward into the future. It demonstrates that architecture can be both a tribute to the past and a vision for tomorrow—a space where memory and modernity coexist in simplicity and beauty.

Dar Al Dakira is a quest for balance, a celebration of Moroccan heritage, and an invitation to rediscover the richness of the medina through a new lens.
