This project is located in Hashtbandi City, Hormozgan Province, an area characterized by a hot climate and intense sun exposure. The design of the building responds directly to the local climate and surrounding context, where the considerations of privacy and proximity to neighboring buildings played a crucial role in shaping the form and overall composition. The building form is oriented east-west to optimize daylighting from the south and north while minimizing direct sunlight from the west. This approach ensures effective shading and energy efficiency in the hot climate.
The ground floor consists of one unit, and the first floor contains two units. One of the main challenges of the project was maintaining the value of the upper floors despite limited access to the courtyard. To address this issue, a conventional staircase was avoided for access to the first floor. Instead, the circulation was designed so that residents of the first floor enter through a more private courtyard, exclusive to the upper units. This design not only preserves privacy but also maintains a logical and functional relationship between the floors, enhancing the value of the upper units.
The green roof functions as a private courtyard for the first floor and is closely connected to the main courtyard. This space not only provides greenery and open space but also contributes to thermal comfort and visual quality within the building. The green roof, in addition to reducing direct sunlight exposure during the hot seasons, plays a key role in creating a sustainable and environmentally-friendly design. In summary, the integration of the building’s form, circulation, and open spaces, including courtyards and the green roof, results in a high-quality, environmentally-conscious design that responds effectively to the challenging climatic conditions of the region.
