Located in an upscale Gurugram business hub is the head office for Carlsberg India Pvt Ltd. Sprawling across 17,000 sq ft, this space brims with interiors that pay homage to the brand's heritage and represent a fusion of functionality and aesthetics. As stipulated by the client, the interior scheme aims to establish a distinctive brand identity reflecting Carlsberg’s international presence and forward-thinking vision. The space balances material choices, spatial planning, and proportions to create a unique character while enhancing workflow and collaboration. Innovative solutions, including virtual partitions, concentrate traffic flow, using geometric shapes and transparent glass to divide spaces seamlessly. Carlsberg’s branding elements—such as green hues, the hop symbol, and integrated product graphics—align with their commitment to their global vision and sustainable workspaces.

As one approaches, the lifts drop you onto the private lobby conceived and curated to reflect the brand identity; a revolving larger-than-life brand bottle catches the eye and adds a little spin to the design, quite literally. Upon exiting the private lift lobby, one steps into a meticulously curated corridor—an elegant buffer between the bustling public areas and the inner sanctum of Carlsberg’s team. This corridor subtly guides visitors toward the reception area, where bold furniture pieces and carefully chosen art create an inviting ambience.

The reception backdrop features a semi-transparent partition, offering a sense of spaciousness while maintaining privacy for workstations and team members. Moving deeper into the workspace, you encounter a remarkable expanse—a column-free area measuring 32 by 20 metres. Almost all of this space is kept unobstructed, emphasising volume and flow. The ceilings are minimalist, revealing only two main ducts and eschewing false ceilings. The raw slab is repurposed as a canvas, subtly incorporating the brand’s character through stencil-paint detailing. Throughout the workspace, unique elements—such as floating-top workstations with fluted glass partitions, dramatic Indian art, stunning wallpapers, and a brand history wall—add to the overall aesthetic while keeping the space's functionality as the prime agenda.

At the heart of this space, the twin training rooms feature three sliding-folding partitions that seamlessly connect to the open work hall. When opened, these flexible spaces accommodate large gatherings, activities, and events—an integral part of Carlsberg’s vibrant culture. Moving deeper into the domain, the boardroom is planned to accommodate over 30 users at peak occupancy. It has a secondary connection to the reception for quick access for visitors. This boardroom comes with its creative jabs. A custom wallpaper modesty for the open well table showcases historic bottle caps from Carlsberg, padded fabric upholstery, the iconic hop floating in the middle of the ceiling, and the headline feature is the custom-made glass mosaic logo made from used Carlsberg beer bottles. This logo was conceived and designed exclusively for Carlsberg. Our team worked with a specialised artist to create this wonder.

Moving on, close to the café, a unique space is carved above and beyond the list of requirements: an evening lounge where meetings can unfold in a less formal setting. This lounge has been placed close to the cafeteria to share some services, and yet, it is a breakout space where work may continue. Plush furniture, modest lighting, custom wallpaper wrapping the wall and ceiling, and the fragrance of fine coffee make this space the place to be when you have to work, but the workplace is not where you wish to be.

The head office of Carlsberg India Pvt Ltd in Gurugram is a testament to the successful blend of functionality, aesthetics, and brand integration. The design reflects Carlsberg's legacy while embracing contemporary design principles and sustainability. Through innovative spatial planning, multifunctional spaces, and thoughtful design choices, the office provides employees with an inspiring environment that promotes collaboration and productivity. This project exemplifies how corporate spaces can be visually stunning and functional at the same time.
