Hotel VUE – A Reflection of Mississippi’s Essence

Located alongside the majestic Mississippi River, Hotel VUE is a modern sanctuary that seamlessly blends the natural beauty and rich history of its surroundings with contemporary design elements. As the interior designer for this project, I aimed to create a space that both honors and enhances the local environment while offering guests a memorable and immersive experience.

Color Palette: A Nod to the River

Our design journey began with the selection of a neutral color palette, chosen to evoke a sense of calm and sophistication. This base is punctuated by blue accents in both public space and the guest rooms- a choice to reflect the significance of the Mississippi River. These blue tones serve as a visual reminder of the river’s reliability and enduring presence, subtly grounding the hotel in its geographical context.

Art and Culture: A Celebration of Local Heritage

Every piece of art within Hotel VUE has been thoughtfully curated to celebrate the history, culture, and significant events of the region. From striking photographs of the renowned local balloon festival to elegant representations of the magnolia, Mississippi's state flower, the art collection invites guests to explore and appreciate the locality’s rich heritage. These works are not mere decorations but are integral elements that tell the story of Mississippi.

Public Spaces: Organic Flow and Pop of color

In keeping with the hotel’s natural surroundings, the public spaces are designed with organic patterns. The carpets in the meeting room and the corridor, for instance, feature fluid, dynamic designs that evoke the flow of water, creating a sense of movement and connection to the nearby river. The use of complementary pop of colors, such as orangish chairs and yellowish accent pillows, adds vibrancy and energy to the space, drawing the eye and inviting guests to linger.

Modern Elements: A Fusion of Style and Function

While deeply connected to its environment, Hotel VUE also embraces a modern aesthetic. The lounge area, for example, features grayish tiles that harmonize with elegant porcelain slabs, creating a more modern interior space - compared with the old condition. The darker doordrop wallcovering in the corridor enhances the modernity by bringing the strong contrast and giving more dimensions. The hotel’s lighting design further enhances this contemporary feel, with a variety of modern wall sconces and pendants strategically placed throughout the property, adding both functionality and visual interest.

Conclusion

Hotel VUE is more than just a place to stay; it is an experience that reflects the essence of Mississippi. By blending natural elements with modern design, and by incorporating local art and culture into every detail, the hotel offers guests a unique and enriching stay that is both rooted in tradition and forward-looking.
