This project centers on an innovative interplay between two contrasting materials: felt and metal. Connected by custom triangular fasteners, these disparate materials are integrated and recontextualized. This juxtaposition softens the cold, austere quality of metal while unleashing the sculptural, three-dimensional potential of felt. By introducing felt as a modular element within the spatial narrative, the design transcends conventional material boundaries, achieving a balanced, symbiotic relationship.
Using the custom triangular fastener as a standardized foundation, the design establishes an integrated, modular display system. This uniform modular framework and standardized connection method give rise to a versatile array of display components—including vertical columns, curved display surfaces, and island displays. These elements can be flexibly configured to adapt to varying store layouts, circulation patterns, and merchandising needs, seamlessly bridging standardized efficiency with tailored, contextual space planning.
Designed with the specific characteristics of eyewear in mind—compact, delicate, and requiring highly organized presentation—the project closely aligns material properties with display functionality. Leveraging the soft yet durable nature of felt, the fixtures naturally protect the products from scratches. Standardized positioning slots organize the display and simplify daily maintenance, creating a unified visual identity that elevates the overall caliber of the retail experience.
The brand’s signature red is elevated through this material fusion. Marrying MOLSION’s core brand color with the felt material reinforces visual identity, while the warm, tactile texture adds depth and sophistication to the color. This approach builds a refined, premium, and highly recognizable visual system, translating the brand’s identity into a tangible, physical space.
