The Kastalia Holiday Village Project was a 450-bed touristic settlement which initially started with a Local Master Plan in 1974. During these years, the site was a plain field extending as far as the beach without any trees or plantation.

As a result of the unstable economical and political state of the country between1974-83, the application of the project had to be delayed. The entire construction took place between 1983-85 and was ready for operation under the name of “Club Aquarius”. The narrow and long site extends from the highway to the beach with 90 meters long sea elevation. The main principle of the design was to enrich the landscape and the inner spaces that were anticipated to replace the sea view. This was achieved by designing the bed units around patios with straight streets descending towards the sea. All of the social facilities were located between the coast and the bed units.

In 1993, the holiday village was renamed as “Club Kastalia”. As a result of the increasing demands during the recent 16 years, the number of the beds were increased to 540. The food court, the cafe-bar and the amphitheater were redesigned with new additions because of the newly developing functions by the same architect. The application of the new food court took place during the winter of 2000-01 in 5 months. During the spring of 2008, the new Cafe-bar and the new Amphitheater were built. No harm was done to any of the grown-up trees during the entire construction.

The most important feature of the facility is that even though its Construction Allowance was H=15.50 and the Ratio of the Total Area of Construction was 0.75, in the Master Plan of 1974, the Construction Allowance was taken H=6.50 and the Ratio of the Total Area of Construction was taken 0.20. Increasing these values was never considered.

Even though this facility was initially set on an empty field located on the Antalya Coast, today only uninterrupted nature and green trees are perceived from the sea. Almost no concrete structure is visible from the beach. As a result, it was one of the 5 winners of the 1992 Environment Awards. Despite the recent developments in Turkey`s tourist industry note some slowing down, Kastalia Holiday Village is totally occupied and highly praised by its guests.
