Rampura Residence is a 1,800 sft residence interior design project for Mr. Manzur-E-Khuda Rousseau in Rampura, Dhaka, completed in 2025. Studio Archifiction's scope covered residence interior design consultancy, site supervision, and custom furniture detailing.
Rather than starting from decorative centerpieces, the design began by mapping the family's daily routines: morning habits, work-from-home needs, privacy requirements, and storage pressure points. Every space in the 1,800 sft apartment was shaped around how the family actually lives, not around how the interior would photograph.
The client's father, an early riser and avid reader, received a dedicated reading corner beside a custom bookshelf, positioned to make use of morning light. It functions as an active part of his daily routine rather than a decorative afterthought.
Because the client works from home, a standard study desk was not enough. The team designed a flexible home office that can shift between an open, connected part of the house and a private meeting zone. A wooden-frame glass folding door achieves this: the space stays airy and visually connected to the apartment during normal hours, and closes off for calls and meetings without feeling cramped.
The client's wife wanted a quiet spot to watch the rain, so a window-side seating nook was integrated into her dressing area, placed near a space she already used daily.
Functional wall cabinetry runs throughout the apartment, handling cable management, storage, and clear circulation while keeping the visual palette calm. Each cabinet was considered for usable depth, hardware, opening direction, ergonomic height, and lighting relation.
As an architect-led practice, Studio Archifiction handled design consultancy and site supervision, while the client managed material purchases and labour directly, giving him stronger cost control without losing design guidance on finishes, technical details, and execution accuracy.
