The Floating Cube House in Naranpura, Ahmedabad, is a striking example of contemporary residential architecture that celebrates geometric clarity, material minimalism and spatial harmony. Designed by Harikrushna Pattani & Associates, this approximately 4,000 sq.ft. residence reimagines urban living through refined form, dynamic massing and sensitive spatial planning that resonates with both everyday comfort and architectural distinction.

Situated in the established neighbourhood of Naranpura, the project responds to the challenge of creating a visually impactful home on a compact urban footprint. The defining conceptual move is the floating cube — a sculptural volume that appears suspended above the landscape and spatial base of the house. This cube becomes both an architectural statement and a functional device, delineating private spaces while creating shaded transitional zones below.

The facade celebrates bold minimalism. Clean lines, rectilinear volumes and a restrained palette of materials — including neutral stone cladding, sleek plaster finishes and accent metal detailing — give the residence a sophisticated yet grounded presence. These materials define depth and texture while responding to the climatic conditions of Ahmedabad, balancing sunlight, shade and ventilation with architectural finesse.

Spatial planning is centred on comfort, privacy and visual continuity. The ground level accommodates social spaces such as the living room, dining and kitchen, designed as open yet articulated zones that flow naturally into one another. Expansive fenestration and carefully positioned openings reinforce the connection between interior and exterior, flooding spaces with natural light and capturing cross breezes — a key strategy for thermal comfort and sustainability.

Private zones on upper levels, contained within the floating cube, are designed as retreats that combine tranquillity with subtle architectural drama. Bedrooms are oriented for maximum daylight and view potential, with integrated storage and custom detailing ensuring a refined everyday experience. Circulation is efficient and intuitive, allowing fluid movement between public and private realms without compromising spatial definition.

Outdoor spaces terraces and landscaped pockets are integral to the home’s experience. They extend living spaces outward, creating outdoor rooms that enrich daily life while anchoring the architecture to its context. Shaded patios and breezeways contribute to passive cooling, while planted edges create visual softness against the sculptural form.

The Floating Cube House at Naranpura exemplifies how intelligent design and architectural restraint can elevate residential living. Through clear geometry, a refined material language and thoughtful integration of light and landscape, the residence stands as a modern interpretation of luxury living in Ahmedabad — where form, function and experience converge with elegance.
