Wuhan Chengjian Kaiyuan Senbo Resort Hotel,As a grand cultural and tourism project with a total gross floor area of 118,000 square meters, its interior design redefines the parent-child urban vacation experience through an in-depth exploration that integrates nature, regional characteristics and contemporary aesthetics. Taking the core spirit of the Senbo brand – "Exploring Nature with Love" – as our starting point, we have delved deeply into the local culture of Wuhan, a city known as the "River City" and the "City of a Hundred Lakes", drawing inspiration from the timeless Wuhan legend "Meeting a Bosom Friend by High Mountains and Flowing Water". From this, we have extracted three core motifs: "mountains, water and lotus flowers", and transformed them into design languages that run through the entire interior space. The aim is to create an immersive natural aesthetic destination with profound spiritual connotations, distinct from traditional standardized hotels.
The uniqueness and advantages of the design lie in the fact that it is not a simple imitation of natural elements. Instead, through the techniques of deconstruction, translation and abstraction, the imagery of "high mountains, flowing water and lotus flowers" is fully integrated into the 46,000-square-meter interior space in terms of form, color and artistic conception. Different from designs that merely pile up visual symbols, what we have created is a perceivable and explorable narrative scene. From the curved ceiling in the lobby that stretches like overlapping high mountains, to the decorative panels on the ground that resemble rippling water waves; from the soft decorative surfaces in guest rooms that draw inspiration from natural textures, to the faint light and shadow of natural veins in public areas, the design enables every guest to engage in a silent dialogue with the lakes and waterscapes of Wuhan and the natural philosophy of Senbo while walking, sitting or lying down.
In terms of technological implementation and material innovation, we have overcome numerous creative challenges. The most difficult part lies in how to perfectly integrate the organic forms of nature with the regular structure, fire safety regulations and ergonomics of large-scale commercial spaces. For instance, the connection between the iconic giant curved surface of the lobby and the load-bearing columns – the complex double-curved shape of this structure has extremely high requirements for structural calculation and construction precision. By conducting multiple simulation deductions through BIM technology and parametric design, and collaborating with the construction team, we adopted custom-made prefabricated GRG (Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum) components. This not only achieved a seamless integration of artistic form and building structure, ensuring the visual impact and sense of smoothness, but also guaranteed the implementability and engineering quality of the project.
Furthermore, in terms of material selection, we have extensively used environmentally friendly materials with natural textures such as GRG, artistic coatings, PETG amber panels, natural wood, and bamboo weaving, which echo the concept of sustainability. Meanwhile, through an intelligent dimming system, we simulate the soft light and shadow changes of natural light passing through lotus leaves at different times of the day, creating a dynamic and vibrant indoor atmosphere.
From preparation to implementation, the essence of the entire process lies in balance — balancing artistic expression with functional needs, balancing brand tone with regional culture, and balancing construction costs with design effects. Ultimately, we have successfully transformed an abstract cultural concept into a tangible and experiential physical space. It not only creates a childlike and exploratory parent-child environment for family guests, but also provides a quiet and relaxing sanctuary for adult guests seeking tranquility. Wuhan Urban Construction New Century Sunbo Resort Hotel is not just an accommodation venue, but also a tribute to natural aesthetics and a contemporary interpretation of Wuhan's culture. It sets a new benchmark for in-depth design and cultural empowerment of cultural and tourism projects in the industry.
