the project has its origins in the international workshop that took place in prapoutel ski resort, in 2004. located at 1350m altitude | belledonne massif, french alps | prapoutel was created in the ‘70s on the principle of ex-nihilo resort, detached from other existing settlements and just for enjoying the winter sports. the workshop’s and nowadays debate focuses on reconnecting and transforming it into a complex, all seasonal space.
thus, the intention is to analyze the ski resort | landscape, functions,... | at different scales, finding ways for it to become a "total" resort and not just a gathering of functions with seasonal utility. in addition and in the same idea of reconnecting it, a polyvalent center, landmark, dynamic space, representative is proposed. being the arrival point of a cable transportation | which would facilitate an easy access to the ski slopes in winter, increase the number of inhabitants and tourists in other seasons |, hosting different events..., the center would be a space keeping the resort "alive" and in constant "movement".
