For a new branch office in the Los Angeles area we propose a design that beams modernity, simplicity, and elegance. Our proposal is not only efficient and comfortable but cleanly expresses the brand and company image of our client. Maximizing the flood of bright natural sunlight was a primary element of this process and coupling this spectrum with a simple color scheme is meant to enhance the natural feel of the space. In lieu of the traditionally bland choice of drywall, transparent acrylic paneled walls and office dividers reflect a far greater percentage of light rays and create a more radiant environment for employees and clientele through a hi-tech, glossy finish. Keeping the current ceiling fixed, we further imagine the glow and ambience of natural daylight achieved by adding an assortment of square lightweight acrylic ceiling panels suspended by aircraft cables to the existing seismic ceiling member. Since the current lighting is unnatural and inadequate, these dropped panels have a twofold purpose: to both house and also reflect additional indirect pedant lighting fixtures as needed and create a unique glow in lieu of the typical mood of fluorescent lights. Since budget is a central concern, especially with respect to the existing ceiling and HVAC systems, these initiatives help maintain an even distribution of these AC, lighting, and electrical networks. These several material and design choices complement each other to create a translucent and minimally decorative, uncluttered space to reflect the company’s dedication to transparency, integrity, and honesty.
