Located in Glasgow Govan Graving Docks. The site was chosen specifically for my proposal because of it’s proximity with the Science Centre, the Transport Museum, the Glasgow and the Clyde Auditorium (Armadillo). All these iconic building create a very futuristic and modern urban fabric. Furthermore, the site has a lot of free space to offer especially for a big city like Glasgow, a fact that is highlighted by the river. Free unhindered views are available from many places allowing for any new design proposals there own vantage point in the skyline of the city. These two elements were the primary factors that influenced my decision in choosing a city for a Space Centre which is my proposed scheme.

The original conceptual idea was based on the themes of decay, dereliction and transition. These themes were translated based on a scientific, space related scope. The vision of the final design scheme is roughly based on a space shuttle that is preparing to take of.

If we were forced to leave our decayed planet behind and reach for the stars we would definitely take many of the artifacts that define our civilization with us.

The void that the docks create, can be used in support of the concept that something has be removed from the ground.

The ground itself being part of a derelict area supports the idea of decay. The removed part is floating in the air on the beginning of its journey to the sky.

The structure is stuck floating in the air giving us a snap shop of the point in time when we will actually make this next big step for humanity.
