The conditions brought about by climate change affects housing and sustainable development in the Philippines, specifically, the vulnerable groups and those living in high risk disaster areas. It affects the lives and livelihood of the poor and the disadvantaged. We will have to review the different housing models studies for better in-depth understanding of our housing backlog. Our intention is to design guide model for a sustainable and environmentally sensitive- adaptive shelter and/ or housing.

The Focus Project: A Sustainable Construction Design and Development of the Mary Queen of Heaven Missionaries Centre for Prostituted Women and Abused Children (The Shelter)

The main goal is to design climate change adaptable structure and/or housing that would become a basis for the shelter’s physical design. The “Shelter’s” design is also applicable in terms of climate change adaptation shelter for the vulnerable groups (the deprived, depressed, underserved and isolated- DDUI). The design complements the sustainable aspect of community management, capacity building and income generation.
